Two lucky staff members, Ali & Lydia were selected by their Studio Woo peers to be inspired in Mexico! See their photos on how they soaked up the culture, history and too much tequila...
The Strand Arcade has won the coveted VIVA (Vision – Innovation – Value – Achievement) Marketing Award for its outstanding We Are The Makers re-positioning campaign, created by Studio Woo, at this year’s ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centres) Global RECON Awards in Las Vegas.
Justus Magazine is a platform promoting and celebrating innovation in print design. Studio Woo is proud to be included in this publication that showcases talent and craftsmanship of the Australian print design industry.
What better way to START the year than a kick-off party! Good times were had, from what we can remember.
All of the staff were blown away by the thought and detail Elen put into her presentation this year so we had to share it with you. It is not only informative, but also witty, inspiring and technically brilliant. Well done Elen!
The Woo Crew headed south for our annual conference this year in search of creative inspiration from the Mona in Hobart. What we returned with was much more. After a full day at the museum followed by a very insightful ‘staff curated’ conference we are all feeling not only inspired but more united! Now if the hangover would just go away…
Today was Meg’s last day at Woo. A sad goodbye since we will all miss her dearly but we are all excited to meet her little man once he arrives. And let’s face it, we jump at any excuse for a fun Friday lunch!
12 highly un-trained “special” athletes collectively know as the Woo Tang Clan made their impressive netball debut this week. We hit the courts with no fear and for many no knowledge of where to stand or which direction to face. A warm up game proved to be key – as we blasted out some cobwebs and survived two 20 minute halves – with no injury, no send-offs and also no trouble to the scorers – with not a single goal (one attempt easily cleared the hoop and ended up in a field 20 metres away). We were a different team when it came to the crunch however and we came through game one undefeated. Also with no wins- but we’ll take the draw.
Special mention to Madi R for two full games at centre and to Daniel for showing up wearing skins under his shorts. With game two strategies being strategised and our fearsome court-side reputation growing – there may just be a few ticks in the win column soon – watch this space.
We take our betting seriously at our Melbourne Cup parties. This year Maddy cleaned house taking home over $300!
Here’s a little write-up from manuscriptdaily.com on some of the work we’re doing for The Strand Arcade.
The latest campaign, 1891, named for the year the arcade was opened, reminds us why its such an important cultural institution, tied up in the history of Sydney when shopping was about local brands, craftspeople, and familiar faces.

Wrapping up the season we decided to blow off steam “Rockabilly style”.
We celebrate many culturally diverse holidays here at StudioWoo but with Andrea & Justin being from America we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate the 4th of July with some Budweiser, Burgers and Bruce Springsteen! YUM!
AFR’s first bespoke summit was a tale of two halves. Both hit and miss, but our 4 highlights were:
1. Ramdane Touhami
Do one thing f*&king brilliantly and “boom”. Had the place in the palm of his hand with his unique style of storytelling and his utter belief in his journey to achieve perfection.
2. Karen Walker
It must start with a good idea. if the product isn’t right, the dark arts (marketing) won’t help. Talked beautifully about how to create. Its better to create one thing well than lots of average things.
3. Simone Cipriani
Making a difference is about collaboration, not charity. Spoke with such passion and charisma the whole opera house was silenced to hear his every word. A genius speaker.
4. Saturdays NYC
Presentation is everything. If you bomb, it’s very handy to surround yourself with people that can cover you. An inspirational story of how having a passion that links with a business idea can be a success.
Just wrapped a 4 week shoot with our new client. It has been epic and can’t wait for you to see it. Stay tuned!
Justin Woo was lucky to have worked with Juergen Teller on the Calvin Klein Eternity campaign in 2001. We are positive that there is no connection to the exhibit name. For more information click here.
The boys are ditching their razors for Movember, (L to R) Tom, Mark, Lewis and Rhys are doing it all for charity. Rhys cheated by starting last year and hopefully Mark isn’t being paid by the mm because progress to date has been a little on the slow side….
This was the before shot. The after shot is, well, not for publication.
Guest of honour was J Woo’s mum. That girl knows how to party.
Our ’12/13 campaign for Paspaley is now live. Shot on location in and around the Paspaley pearl farms between Darwin and Broome, this was an incredibly complicated production. But thanks to the professionalism of the crew, the flawless planning by Brooke at Paspaley and the heroic local support from Richard McLean, it all went without a hitch. The result? Stunning.
Here’s a quick peak at how it all came together.
